For the past few weeks, I have had a problem with Photoshop. When using Selection Tool more than once, my software freezes completely. I tried the solution to downgrade and it doesn't work. Could it be that Adobe no longer accepts my graphics card? This is my computer.

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz

8 gig RAM

HD Radeon 4600 (yes is old)

Photoshop v22.5.1

thank you

Jeff

Hi,

We're sorry about the trouble due to Photoshop freezing while using the Selection tools. You can try disabling the option to Use Graphics Processor from Photoshop by going to Preferences, then Performane. Once done, quit & relaunch Photoshop to check if that helps.

If it helps, please check out: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/troubleshoot-gpu-graphics-card.html

If the issue persists, you can try to reset the preferences of Photoshop using the steps mentioned here: https://adobe.ly/2Qzc0K3

Please backup your settings prior to resetting the preferences. You can check: https://adobe.ly/2vNz6FG

Let us know how it goes!

Regards,

Nikunj

Disabling the Graphics Processor worked. Though I have two powerful graphics cards. (Nvidia RTX3080Ti's)

That card doesn't meet the requirements for the current version of Photoshop. I agree with Nikunj, disable Use Graphics Processor. If the freezing stops, probably a good idea to upgrade to a newer card with at least 4GB of VRAM and make sure you have the latest driver for it.

I have a brand new Lenovo Thinkpad, with the same issue. Could it be Photoshop needs to be fixed, rather than everyone paying for a more expensive graphics card?
