Hey guys, I've never posted here before so I'm not entirely sure what info you all need to help me, but I'll give you what seems pertinent and feel free to ask for more clarifying info if needed.

Basically, as the title says, I have extreme lag when using photoshop, mostly when moving or free-transforming layers. I also notice it when repositioning a layer effect pattern.

Here is a link to a recording I made of the issue: https://imgur.com/a/mG2wYH9

Date: 4/23/24

Version: 25.7

Platform: MacOS Sonoma 14.4.1

Device: MacBook Pro 16in M1 Pro 2021

Device is a demo unit I purchased last month.

Chip: M1 Pro

Memory: 16GB

Graphicsx: M1 Pro (APPLE)

The specific file example is 1920x1080, RGB 8-bit, 72ppi

Let me know if any other information is needed. I'm using this for graphic design at work and I need it to be usable ASAP. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hey, @Arksyn. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll help you figure this out.

Before troubleshooting, try Photoshop (beta) via the Creative Cloud desktop app > Apps > Beta tab & check if that helps.

Besides Photoshop's performance, check the Processes in the task Activity Monitor (macOS) for unexpected read/write operations.

To begin troubleshooting, test some variables like:

  • Unplug any external peripherals & use wired input devices.
  • Temporarily, unplug extra displays & only keep one active at a time.

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!
