Photoshop 26.11 and 27.0 Crashes when opening a .jpeg or .NEF file

In the last year, a new version was only working the day of installation.  Then, I was using the 24.7.5 Old Version.  Today, that old version is gone.

Same crach problem even after deleting the "Use Graphincs processor" in the Preferences-Performance.

When the app crashes, do you see any error messages? If so, could you share a screenshot?

As a first step, please make sure your graphics card drivers are fully updated. If the issue continues, try going to Photoshop > Preferences > Performance, uncheck Use Graphics Processor, and restart Photoshop. If that fixes the problem, it might point to a GPU issue. You can follow the steps here:

Also, it would be super helpful if you could share your System Info. You can find it in Photoshop under Help > System Info. Just copy the details into a text file and attach it here, or share via Google Drive, WeTransfer, or another file-sharing service.

You have dual graphics, a known potential conflict. Disable the Intel UHD as described here:

Unfortunately, there is no way for Photoshop/ACR to control which GPU is being called. That is entirely at the mercy of how the laptop manufacturer has configured the operating system and the two GPU drivers.

When done, you may have to delete a log file to allow ACR to start up again ("TempDisableGPU3"), also described in the above link.

Thank you so much for your help.  Disabling my Intel UHD driver makes Photoshop 27.0.0 opening the .jpg and .NEF files as usual.  I didn't have to remove the temporary file "tempDisabeGPU3" as mentioned.

My screen appears to be more defined and more white. I probalby have to adjust my screen options.

If this happens with jpegs and raw files, the problem is likely the Camera Raw plugin (ACR), not Photoshop. 

Disabling the GPU in Photoshop doesn't affect ACR, which has its own GPU processing and routines. The thing is, ACR won't run at all without a supported and functional GPU, so you can't just disable it there. The GPU has to work properly to use Camera Raw.

If you post System Info as @Aleke requests, we can hopefully see if your GPU / drivers are supported and able to run the recent versions.

New application versions may have new graphics code to take advantage of new developments in GPU technology. This is why an older GPU that has worked previously may stop working after an update.
