Photoshop and AE fail to recognise a font, yet MS Word will. Any thoughts?

Photoshop and AE simply make rectangles of a font I have installed. It works fine on MS word. Any ideas or advice?

Is it a Type 1 font? My understanding is that Word will substitute Type 1 fonts, so that could be why you're seeing text instead of boxes there. Type 1 fonts are no longer supported by Adobe:

• Type 1 fonts issue with MS Office 2019 / Windows 10
• PostScript Type 1 fonts end of support
