Without any system information and other technical details we can't tell you much on why PS is crashing hard. The most likely cause is that you have severe issues with hardware acceleration, so start by updating your system's graphics driver and check the relevant settings in the preferences. Likewise, check your swap file settings and the permissions and disk space on those.

Hi, please give more information: please post the contents of Photoshop's Help>System Info... menu, so that we get to know your OS, its version, the exact version of Photoshop you are running, the date of the GPU driver, etc.

Do you get a crash log? https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/submit-crash-reports.html

Also, you could try to check "Deactivate Native Canvas" in the menu Edit/Preferences/Technology preview (Pc) or Photoshop/Preferences/Technology preview (Mac), then restart Photoshop.
This is not a fix, but rather a way to check if the issue appears only with the new technology, and should be reported to the Ps team.

Another good thing to try is to restore your preferences to the default using this manual method (scroll down to the correct Manually section) :
https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#Manually it lets you keep a copy on the desktop that you can use to revert the process.

Did you try other troubleshooting steps like described in https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/troubleshoot-crash-or-freeze.html
