Photoshop CC 2018 keeps corrupting files and it is damaging to my work (as in money earned).
It is so frustrating, it keeps happening in haphazard ways and I can't pin it to one special behaviour.
It starts with image artifacts, and when I can see those, the file is basically gone.
macOS Sierra 10.12.6
2,7 GHz i5
8GB RAM
Intel Iris Graphics 6100
I will download the old PS CC for the time being but this is not the solution.
Shame on you Adobe for delivering such a buggy product that is not only annoying but detrimental.
This is the file in Preview:
and this is it opened in Photoshop:
Cool.
Hi
I have not experienced any corruption of files.
However , in your position I would do the following:
1. Create a couple of test files and work on them to isolate the issue.
2. Turn off the GPU in "Photoshop > Performance and if that resolves the problem - turn it back on first in basic mode then try the other modes.
3. Once the outcome of the GPU on/off is known - raise a report at the link below , where it will be seen by Adobe staff, giving as much system info as possible - and be prepared to sh

I have this issue as well on a brand new iMac. I did troubleshooting on everything and i believe once the file has the issue it's corrupted, artificating goes to corruption for me. Going to any other version probably will not help it unless you do a brand new file and move all the layers over before they get corrupted but even then who knows.
This could also be network related? Does anyone work local only and still have this issue?

I am having the issue as well. Usually happening when saving large files, around a gig, or larger, across the network.
I was up till 4AM fixing abut half the files in a 35 image order.
Corrupted PSD's sometimes fail to generate a thumbnail in Bridge. In those cases, if I notice this before I close the file in PS, I can resave it until it does.
So frustraiting.

This is happening to me, both with simple png saving (I work with spritesheets, tilesets, pixel art game dev professionally, not like an enthusiast) and with animation.
I use png modify-save to see real time changes in Tiled.
For animation, I use photoshop timeline and there the issues are way worse, sometimes I apply an effect to some layer like glow and continue duplicating the frame to turn the effect off or move objects, and when I'm running through the frames back and forth sometimes effects just disappear from the layers and a whole mess invades my animations.
The last thing I did was to turn off "Use Graphics Processor to Accelerate Computation inside Advanced Graphics Processor Settings window, besides having all other boxes off I use Drawing mode in Basic (I use that setting all the time anyway). This seems to work for now, I have been working for some hours without getting my work destroyed.
Will update this post if I still have issues, otherwise I'll update later in the week if everything is "working" for me.
I honestly don't put the whole blame in Adobe, Apple has been doing it's fair share of stupidity lately. But still, things need more testing before getting released by both companies. I accept some bugs some times, but still, we pay for working tools and this time this graphical bug is not only making us lose some time but destroying hours of past work. My ultimate advice is to use backups, being these 'Time machine', dropbox, or whatever you can.

How is this issue from October 2017 not fixed? I have the same problem today. Healing brush on a 8000x5500 pixel image, screwed all of my layers.

I'm having this problem again today. Corrupted files with png images. Also happened when I tried to CRL+J two layers of text.

I'm having the same problem when using smart objects with layer styles/filters and a layer mask. Only seems to happen if I have a mask and a filter/style on it. Haven't had this problem since 2014/15 when it was happening almost everyday and cost me weeks in corrupted work. I can't really afford to go through that again so please can we have a fix as soon as possible.

I had the same problem. I removed Photoshop CC 1.9.2 and reinstall in Program Files (x86) instead Program Files . And the problem fixed

I am having this in Photoshop 2015. It happens rarely and I use Illustrator mostly. So a fair amount of anything I do in Photoshop is a smart object. But if I did my original work in Photoshop and it was my final product— I would be horrified to even try and depend on this software to make any work that required considerable time.
This is a VERY bad issue.

Even tried saving it as PSB, but didnt work at all... Dont know it it helps, but my wacom intuos started getting SUPER slow before the corruption happened, my keyboard shortcuts stopped working, like a gradual process... any solutions?

The only possible explanation is your video card/driver. Buggy video drivers has been the curse of Photoshop ever since CS4 first started to use the GPU. The thing is that Photoshop uses the GPU for actual data processing, and the result returned to Photoshop for further processing. So bugs here can probably corrupt the data.
If you are using a NVidia card, make sure you use the "studio" driver, not the "game ready" driver. Historically, the emphasis on games is probably the main reason for all the bugs. The introduction of the studio drivers should hopefully put a stop to this.
I've used Photoshop professionally for fifteen years, eight hours a day, and never seen a hint of corruption anywhere.
