Photoshop Changing My File Names When File Is Opened

New Here ,
Mar 21, 2024 Mar 21, 2024

This issue suddenly appeared today without any changes to my workflow or any Photoshop settings.

When opening a .tif file in Photoshop, the name that I assigned to the file is changed by Photoshop to a simple numeric name.  (For example, when I open up Cobblestone.tif, the file appears in my Photoshop window with a simple numeric name 241E73-1.TIF. )

When I go to save the file, that simple numeric appears in the dialog box and I have to manually re-name the file to "Cobblestone" again.  Then when opening up the Cobblestone file at a later time, the simple numeric designation reappears and I have to manually change the name every time I saving the file.

What's going on?
