Have been using PhotoShop for 30 years and not had this before.
Screen grab a web page (or anything), choose File New in PS and paste.
Colour totally messed up - overblown.
Screen grab below - which should be 'photographic' - but has been 'flashed by nukes'.
Have not changed any settings.
Possble causes?

Adobe Photoshop 25.3.1
Windows 10 PC with plenty of memory/drive space and all updates applied

This is not a bug.

A screenshot is not in the original document color space. It has already been converted into your monitor profile, and those converted numbers are recorded in the screenshot.

So what you always need to do with screenshots is to first assign your monitor profile. Then convert to the standard color space you prefer to work with (sRGB, Adobe RGB etc).

Then they will match perfectly (unless your monitor profile is broken).

Sounds like you just got a wide gamut monitor. You probably had a different monitor before, where the difference wasn't so obvious.
