Photoshop - Constantly Having To Reset Preferences To Restore Functionality

Hi,

I use Photoshop to carry out one task a week, which is a Photomerge of six photos, which I need for a video I do for a client. Photoshop does an amazing job on this. However, when I complete this task and close down Photoshop, the next time I open Photoshop it wont even open a jpeg file without bringing up an error saying "Could not complete your request because of a program error.". The only way that I can get Photoshop back working again is to choose Reset Preferences On Quit. Once I reset the preferences, I can carry out the next Photomerge. Then when I complete that Photomerge job, I face the same issue again.

Running:

Windows 10 22H2 OS Build 19045.3448

Adobe Photoshop Version: 25.0.0 20230906.r.37 b14e317 x64

I'm a bit surprised to find that the application is this temperamental. Can anyone advise what could help with this?

thanks,

Jonathan.

I'm having the same problem. I'm in the middle of a big job and am finding this very tiresome.  I hope they fix this bug asap.

Hi Maria,

Still having the same issue. I was going to try revert back to an older version of Photoshop, as suggested on this page. I'll probably have to stand guard all night to stop it from automatically updating itself though.

This is the first version of Photoshop that I have used, can you think with which version you started experiencing this issue?

regards,

Jonathan
