Photoshop crashing when trying to open JPEG

Photoshop continues to crash and "send a report" when trying to open JPEGs. I have tried "turning off »Use Graphics Processor« in the Performance Preferences and restarting Photoshop", Uninstalling all together, Restarting the computer, and Uninstalling and Installing older versions with no luck! (all done separately)

This is happening when I try to open any image.

Most likely the jpegs are trying to open in Camera Raw, and ACR is crashing in the GPU driver

ACR has its own GPU setting in Camera Raw preferences and you disble it there, not in PS preferences. You can access Camera Raw preferences from Photoshop or Bridge if you can't get ACR to open properly.

You can also stop ACR from opening jpegs, also in Camera Raw preferences. Set file handling to disable jpeg support. Then they will open directly into Photoshop.

None of this solves the underlying problem, which most likely is a bad GPU configuration or bad driver. But it's a workaround for now.
