Photoshop CS5 Trial Runtime Error

I installed the Photoshop CS5 trial without any problems, however when i attempt to load the application a box appears stating:

Runtime Error. This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it it an unusual way.

I have not been able to load photoshop a single time.

I'm running Windows Vista 64bit, i'm not sure if this makes a difference or not.

Please help me to trouble shoot this problem! I have searched the net for answers without any luck.

I purchased CS5 and installed it on my desktop and I'm unable to run any of the programs

; I'm getting runtime errors as well. I read somewhere that the previous version of CS3 causes the problem, but I've downloaded the cleaner and gone through my registry and can't find any reference to cs3, uninstalled and reinstalled cs5 and still can't run it.

I'm running WinXP sp3 on an intel duo processor (I think) with 4g of ram and more than 1tb hd. It would be nice if someone from Adobe would help resolve this problem.

Had the same problem,

after a while using Photoshop 5 Trial, it started to show me the same error after starting.

Just used CCleaner, fixed all my registry errors, and now it runs again.

Update for all those people out there with the

Visual C++ runtime error caused by eithor Adobe or MS, I had the same issues and yes I am running a Q9400 quad core processor, I suggest you look at your motherboard bios and motherboard drivers. I downloaded the latest bios and when finished downloaded the latest INF chipset drivers for Windows.

Guess what no errors.

Finally fixed the error by changing my motherboard and reinstalled windows XP.

Hope it gives you some idea about where the problem may come.

Update motherboard bios may be a good idea.

To fix the Run time Error

Follow these steps as

1. Log in to machine as local admin

2. click start >search>type regedit> hit enter

3. Navigate to the following location as

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders]

Click on "User Shell Folders" and on the right hand side look for AppData

Now right click on AppData and select "Modify"

And change and change the Value data to following as

C:\users\ USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data"

Note :- Here the username is your windows login ID

Click ok and Try to launch the Application

Any further resolution on this?  I've been running

PS CS5 and PPro CS5 on my Dell laptop for more than 7 months

and am no getting msvcr90.dll start up crashes when I try

to run PS CS5...I can't accept that its a hardware issue (motherboard, et al)

from my experience...most likely a windows update issue that has caused the problem;

my laptop is a 64bit WIN 7 system running latest copies of PPro and PS CS5;

my 32 bit win7 system (also dell) continues to run PS CS5 just fine..

I also have a Core2 Quad processor, running on Windows Vista Business, and have been having this problem for weeks.

I turned off WMI in services, and wow.. Photoshop CS5 fires right up and works fine.

You shouldn't have to turn off the Windows Management Interface (which sooner or later you'll need) to run Photoshop CS5.  Most people don't have to do this, and Photoshop runs just fine.

You might also consider upgrading to Windows 7.  If you already are using Vista, Windows 7 will not be a giant leap to learn to use well, and it will be more efficient and stable on the same system.  Don't try to save time by installing it as an in-place upgrade, though...  Take the time to do a fresh, clean install and reinstall all your apps.  That will give you a fresh start that will pay you back with stability.

Obviously I "shouldn't have to" turn off WMI to make Photoshop run.

As several people here, and many people in other forums, have mentioned that running a quad core processor seems to be the cause, it sure looks like a major bug somewhere.

I've seen reports of the same thing happening on quad core systems running Windows 7, so why would I waste time with that?

I really don't want to downgrade and go back to my two processor CPU. And I really haven't noticed a strong need for WMI to be running, except windows complains about the security center not running.

I don't know if it will help but in my case :

I was working fine for days and today I had this problems (Runtime error c++ Microsoft visual... etc)

I searched for a while

I could reproduce the error (for me the error occured when I was moving a layer with glow on it)

anyway I was closing many program and then test the probleme by moving the layer (then photoshop crashes everytime)

but when I finally got to Jdownloader.exe (and java.exe or the name of java machine) I closed it

and photoshop did not do the error.

so in my case it was Jdownload and/or Java runtime.

so you should try to close any java program...

my computer spec :
