Photoshop Design Help

I'd like to create a design similar to the photo attached (emphasis on how the "Gold" is created) where the text is opaque enough to allow the background to show through, but also has a silver or gold hue to it. Currently, I'm working on a Mac with CS6 Photoshop. I'm not sure what this design is called or what to search in order to learn how to do it myself. Any tutorials showing this technique would be much appreciated.

I fail to recognize the underlying image in the letters of the word »Gold«. 

Clipping Masking an image of a metallic surface or even some »abstract« random Filter result like Clouds to the text might provide a starting point.
