Photoshop does not launch – missing components error after uninstall/reinstall

Community Beginner ,

Hello,

I’m having an issue with Adobe Photoshop on my Windows laptop.
After uninstalling Photoshop (because it wasn’t opening properly), I now get this error message every time I try to launch it:

“Some of the application components are missing from the Application directory. Please reinstall the application.”

I have already tried the following steps, but the problem persists:

  1. Uninstalled Photoshop through the Creative Cloud Desktop App.

  2. Selected “Remove preferences” during uninstallation.

  3. Used the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to remove Photoshop and Creative Cloud completely.

  4. Restarted the computer.

  5. Manually deleted all remaining Adobe Photoshop folders from:

    • C:\Program Files\Adobe\

    • Tried reinstalling Photoshop (latest version, and also older versions from “Other versions”), but the same error still appears when I try to open it.

I have an active paid Creative Cloud subscription and just want Photoshop to work again.
Could you please help me completely reset or repair my Photoshop installation?

Thank you so much in advance for your help!

I found the solution! 😊
The issue was caused by my Creative Cloud being set to my native language, which Photoshop apparently doesn’t fully support. I changed the default install language in the Creative Cloud Desktop app to English (International), and that solved the problem.

Here’s how I did it:
Go to the three lines in the top-left corner → File → Preferences → Apps tab, then under Installing, set Default install language to English (International).

Everything works perfectly now.
Thanks a lot f

Hi @tjas_kov9087, welcome to the community!
Could you try changing the install language in your Creative Cloud preferences to English? That’s helped other users with the same issue, so it might do the trick for you too.
Thanks a bunch!
Alek

Hi Alek, @Aleke
Thank you very much! I will try that. The Creative Cloud settings online are in English, but my Windows system is in my native language. Could you please advise how to adjust the settings so they correspond? I appreciate your assistance.
