photoshop freezing and unable to edit

when i try to add a photo to edit it either completely stop responding at a menu like the first screenshot. When it does manage to get further im not able to edit and when i zoom/scroll it gets an effect like the 2nd and 3rd photo. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Could you please share the system info of Photoshop from Help > System Info, copy & paste it here as a response? Have you recently updated Photoshop or the operating system? Does this happen right after the launch of Photoshop or during any specific task or operation?

Back up Photoshop's preferences by navigating to the following folder.

• Windows 10/11: Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop [version]/Adobe Photoshop [version] Settings

Once you have taken the backup of preferences, please reset Photoshop by following the steps on this article: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html
