Photoshop has become almost useless

Basically this whole year photoshop has been unusable . The program crashes as soon as you open a jpg or png . It is only usable if importing vector graphics from Illustrator.  The pen tool lines don't show when tracing shapes either . I have stopped the graphics card from being used . Have stopped all 3rd party programs and deleted the cache . How are you supposed to run a business or get it off the ground when the software that used to be so reliable is now useless ?

You didn’t even mention the exact version you are using so please read this (in particular the section titled "Supply pertinent information for more timely and effective answers”):

What have you done for all-purpose trouble-shooting so far?

Restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved might be a good starting point:

Was the latest version but basically everything since 22 has not worked properly.  Restored preferences , deleted Cache , turned off graphics card and made sure no 3rd party programs are running . Can't open any file basically without crashing unless it is a vector file dragged directly into PS or copied from another PSD file . Any new jpg or png opened crashes the program

Mac or Windows? Have you reset preferences?

FWIW, I'm a working pro and have had only minor issues this year with thousands of files (CR2, PSD, and JPEG mainly) on both Mac and Windows platforms. So maybe its something with your computer.

I reset the PC to factory specifications and re installed everything.  Even went back to version 21 . Last update before 22 came out and still have the same issue

Then you have something else running that is causing your problem.
