Whenever I use the symmetry tool, the line for it is a thick black line thats way more distracting compared to the original thin blue line. Is there a way to make it thin and blue again?

The symmetry line is just a path, so the question is in Preferences > Guides, Grids & Slices how is the appearance of your paths set ?
