HELP WITH REINSTALLING OLD PHOTOSHOP VERSION 26.2 (2024)

After updating Photoshop software to 26.3 (2025) from Photoshop (2024) (old version deleted in the process) it came up with the following message when opening Photoshop:

"macOS 14.6.1 or later is recommended for maximum performance and correct operation of Adobe Photoshop 2025. An earlier version of macOS was detected."

As I'm not able to update to macOS 14.6.1 (see operating info below), I decided to uninstall Photoshop 26.3 (2025) and reinstall the older version Photoshop 26.2 (2024) so I would have no issues using Photoshop.

The app shows that I have installed the 2024 version and that an update is available, showing it correctly, HOWEVER when I open Photoshop, it's actually the new version 2025!

I have uninstalled and reinstalled (via 'other versions' on the app in Creative Cloud), restarted the computer several times without any success to get the old software back.

Question:

Is there another way to go about reinstalling the old version of Photoshop 26.2?

Or a way to fix the glitch I'm having as stated above?

Question:

I am able to open Photoshop (2025), but I'm wondering what issues I'll have with performance etc as stated in the message above?

(OPERATING INFO: iMac (2017) macOS Ventura Version 13.7.3, it does not support macOS14 Sonoma and macOS15 Sequoia.)

Thanks

Just a bit of clarity. Version 26.3 and version 26.2 have the same splash screen, so your screenshot does not confirm any problem. To check the Photoshop version when opened, go into Photoshop's system info and read the actual installed version number.

The PS year number is rarely referred to now but if you using that reference, Photoshop 2024 was versions 25.x. Photoshop 2025 is versions 26.x.  So if you actually want to install Photoshop 2024 you need to install v25.x (the last was 25.12.1).

Not a Mac user, but the word "recommended" wouldn't necessarily worry me. If it said "not supported" and refused to run, I'd be more concerned.

Oh it runs on older models, but loses a lot od usability, rotate canvas being one. Laggy as hell being the worst it's ever been. And now to top it off I've found nohere to reinstall an older version. Seriously reconsidering leaving Adobe now. Monthly charges to spend most of my time waiting for a layer to turn off or on is not my idea of creativity.

Personally, if the current version,  v26.3, installs and runs, then I would stick with it unless it causes you any issues.

Ah, thanks Dave for the clarity! I see my mistake.

I assumed 26.2 was the previous version I had, so it must have been one of the 25.x. versions as I was expecting the splash screen with the animals.

Is there a way to have 2 Photoshop programs (26.3 current & 25.12.1 old) installed at the same time?

Thanks again Dave

Yes you can install both. You can also choose in the CC desktop app, whether or not to remove older versions when a new version is installed. That only applies to major versions not 'dot' releases. I have versions 22 through to 26 all installed here. It is handy for checking whether something has changed.

The only caveat is that Adobe only support the last two versions so at some point, for example an operating system change, there could be an issue. But they all do still work here with Windows 11.

From a user who's laptop is not compatible with Windows 11 your reply hasn't comforted me at all. And where ARE the older versions kept now, is there some secret vault they're kept in cos I can't find them? If I was made of money this obviously would not be an issue.

@Shayde48  Adobe make available the current version and previous version for download in the CC desktop app. Today, that means v26 and v25. In addition, v22.2 is still available for download as it is the last version that supported 3D functions.
Windows 11 is not a system requirement, the current versions will work with Windows 10.

Thank you! That really helped me.

Do you know if this would also work with version 2022 or 2023?
