Photoshop keeps crashing when using certain options

Since the update a few days ago, whenever I use the 'select subject' or the new 'remove background' option, the program crashes. Is there anything I can do about this?

What OS Version are you using and is your Display adapter device driver up to date. Post your Photoshop's menu Help>system Info....

I am using Windows 10. My drivers are up-to-date. I didn't have this problem in the previous version (not the remove background ofc since that's a new feature, but rather the 'select subject' option).

Is there a specific part of that system info that is useful here? Since it's an immense piece of text.

By the way, maybe of interest to add: I do not have the 'object select tool' in my menu, which I saw in the Adobe Max live stream. Could this maybe be related?

I've already tried re-installing Photoshop, but this did not solve any of the problems.

Not seeing the object selection tool is unreleated. If you have a custom toolbar , the update will not overwrite it. To see the select object tool - click on the three dots in the toolbar (or use Edit>Toolbar) and then Restore Defaults.

Thanks for that tip, worked like a charm.

As for the system info... Like I said; it's a really big text (and honestly, I feel a bit uncomfortable with some of the info in there and just throwing that online).
Is there a specific part that's most important perhaps?

I am using a similar GPU (GTX1080) but with an older driver and have no issues. The driver I use is 436.15. You may want to try that. Note when installing choose the Advanced option and then "Clean install". It will remove the previous driver and ensure the driver is installed cleanly.

Our development team has been investigating crashes on Select Subject. We have not yet been able to pinpoint what is causing it on some systems.

Does using the Object Selection tool as a workaround suffice while we figure this out?

Yes this is what I've been doing when I want to make quick selections. Of course there's always the old tried and true 'selecting it by hand' with the various selection tools.

I'm having the same problem, when I try and remove background my photoshop crashes. And within my creative cloud I can't roll back to a previous version, which may I add, worked fine. Photoshop Version 23.3.2 running on Windows 10.

May I also add, I uninstalled photoshop from my computer this morning, then reinstalled. But I cannot get the remove background function to work, and I use this daily within my job role.
