Photoshop only painting/drawing in black

Hi! I',m having trouble with colours. There's probably an easy answer I'm missing, but whenever I go to use the paint or fill tool (including in a layer mask), it paints black no matter what colour or settings I choose. I'm in RGB Color mode.

@anonymous08962 can you post a sceenshot of the Photoshop interface with all the pertinent panels showing including the options bar

Hi, thanks for the quick reply but the problem seems to have fixed itself upon restarting the app. thanks, though.
