Photoshop only prints 11 cm on Epson SureColor P20000 (macOS Ventura) when file contains pasted imag

Hi, I’m experiencing a consistent printing issue when using Photoshop 26.10  with my Epson SureColor P20000 on macOS Ventura 13.7.

Whenever I print a composite image — meaning a document where I’ve pasted several images into one canvas (even after flattening and saving as a single-layer file) — Photoshop only prints the first 11 cm of the image. It also leaves a blank margin at the beginning of the print, as if the image starts later on the roll.

If I print a single image (not composed from pasted layers), it prints perfectly fine.
And if I print the same composite file through Epson Print Layout, it works perfectly — the full image prints correctly, no blank margin.

So the problem only happens when printing from Photoshop, and only when the document was built by pasting multiple images. It looks like a communication bug between Photoshop and the Epson driver on macOS, related to how Photoshop handles document bounds after combining multiple layers or imported images.

Steps I’ve already tried (unsuccessful):

  • Flattened and saved the image as TIFF, JPEG, and PDF.

  • Created a new document and pasted the combined image.

  • Checked size and resolution (300 ppi, RGB 16 bits).

  • Disabled auto-centering and scaling.

  • Switched color management (Printer Manages Color / Photoshop Manages Color).

  • Updated Epson firmware and driver.

  • Verified paper setup and margins.

None of these fixed the issue.

System details:

  • Mac: MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2019)

  • Processor: 2.3 GHz Intel Core i9, 8-core

  • Graphics: Radeon Pro Vega 16 GB

  • RAM: 32 GB DDR4

  • macOS: 13.7 (Ventura)

  • Photoshop: [insert your version, e.g., 2025.0.1]

  • Printer: Epson SureColor P20000

  • Connection: [USB / Network]

  • Paper: Roll Paper 44”

  • Color Profile: Adobe RGB (1998)

  • Resolution: 300 ppi

Question:

Has anyone else experienced this behavior?
Is there any workaround or driver setting that prevents Photoshop from cutting the print at 11 cm when the file contains pasted images?
Or is this a known compatibility issue between Photoshop and Epson drivers on macOS Ventura?

Interesting, frustrating problem, Hector. Your conclusion makes sense to me *if* Ps+printer driver are printing only on "pasted" image. But you seem to have disproved that by printing a flattened file.

I see on the Epson website that this printer has a 320GB internal print server. The problem could be that the print job fails to be captured by the server, or stops printing for some reason. Or bitd are going into outer space.

A photo of the incomplete print would help, and a screenshot of the file in Ps.

[I'm going to say this next dumb thing in case it could be happening to you -- my previous Epson printer (r2880) would stop printing whenever I closed my laptop (no print server or buffer). Opening the laptop did not continue the print]

excerpt:

Printer stops printing unexpectedly

Head cleaning, ink charging, or ink drying is in progress

During head cleaning, ink charging, or ink drying, CLEANING PLEASE WAIT, CHARGING INK, or INK DRYING appears on the LCD respectively. Wait until the printer resumes printing. [is the printer just pausing, and your investigation stops the data transfer or print?]
