Photoshop Open interface slow to respond

When i use my mac laptop (MBP14 Max/32GB RAM) to open files in photoshop across a network, the interface takes a long time to respond. Looking at the same files in finder is ok and much faster. It's as if photoshop is trying to read all the files in the folder into memory before it will respond. Other PCs on the network don't have the same issue and I am hard wired to the network. what do you think is going on?

Hi @nigelm47189298 welcome to the world of Mac and Windows servers. Officially Adobe does not support working directly off remote locations - servers, cloud services, synced folders, externals, etc.

The issue you may be having has nothing to do with your Mac Hardward per se - it has to do with the Apple OS trying to deal with permissions and accessing files on a Windows server. Hence why Finder works well. That is the official solution - drag local, edit/save and redrag back to the server to overwrite.

Sure @nigelm47189298 its been an ongoing issue for decades but gotten worse with Big Sur and up.

The ultimate solution is to invest in a DAM system where you can "Checkout" items to edit then "Checkin" to store.
