I upgraded to Photoshop version 22.3 and psd files are automatically being saved as Acrobat, even when I choose psd from the options. I uninstalled 22.3 and reinstalled 22.2 and it is doing the same thing. Any advice?
Since the files have a .psd extension, then they are Photoshop files. You can launch Photoshop and choose File > Open. It's only double-clicking that your computer has gotten confused about. It's what I said in my second bulleted point above: you need to reset the .psd extension to open in Photoshop instead of Acrobat when double-clicking in Mac Finder or Windows File Explorer.

The icon for the file is Acrobat, but in Properties it says it is a psd file. If I double-click the icon (psd) to open, the file tries to open as Acrobat and not Photoshop.
p.s. All of my old psd files have been converted to Acrobat as well.

Have you tried right clicking on the PSD file, choosing "Open with > Choose another app", and then when it asks what program you want to use, choose Photoshop + click the checkmark box at the bottom that says "Always use this app to open .psd files"?
