Hi, i have a brand new PC with a dedicated graphics card. I have the graphics card setting ticked but it takes about 30 secs to a minute just for 1 image. Any ideas why?

One more question to add to those from Stephen.
Are you saving to an internal drive or an external drive? If external what kind of drive and how is it connected to your PC (e.g. USB2 or USB3 etc)?
Edit : Dag asked the same question whilst I was typing 🙂

PSD compression is on by default. Turn it off in Preferences.
For bigger files, PSD compression can be extremely slow and increase save time up to 8x (from my own testing). Especially layers will slow it down.
I have all compression off for this reason. For small files it doesn't really matter, that's instant anyway, but when you get into the GB range and above it becomes totally unworkable. A file that saves in 15 seconds uncompressed can take one and a half minute compressed. I don't have time for that.
