Photoshop Trim is suddenly cropping

I updated to 23.5.0 today and suddenly when I use "trim transparent pixels" it actually crops all hidden layers. Bug? Work around?

Hi @DesignMe sorry you are having issues. Tested here and appears to be working as expected.

Let's make sure we're in a default state and there are no stale settings somewhere:

Does it work correctly?

If that doesn't solve it, you can quit Photoshop and put the Settings folder back.

Didn't work. And the video didin't say anything about saving settings folder, so that's gone (but not worry)

I rolled back, but it's still doing it. All Adobe products were updated this morning. Could it be a different product? Using CC. Just started today. Nothing else updated except Adobe CC Apps.

I created a new file with just squares and it worked. But I make a new file with the items that I'm trying to trim and it doesn't.

It seems to happen with anything that is not a shape or smart object. Plain layers - all do the same thing. It even happens to images or plain psd files. Only shapes and smart objects "retain" their original size without cropping.

@DesignMe we want to clarrify, you say that after updating this issue surfaced? Were you able to do this workflow as in the video in Ps 23.4.2 and it did NOT crop the hidden layers? We want to understand if this is in fact a new issue with 23.5 or if it has been around for a while....

It started when I installed 23.5. I used the CC toolbox to install the previous version 23.4.2 but it's still doing it. All the apps got updated. I even downgraded bridges just in case - no change. All was working fine until I updated the apps today.

Hi @DesignMe, the team is still looking into this. A work around would be to load the top layer as a selection (command click on thumbnail) then go to crop and crop without deleting pixels.
