Photoshop will not load any type of photo file, View area just flashes black and white.

My up to date version of Photoshop loads normally, but opening any type of photo file only produces black and white flashing in the main viewing area.  The correct image is showing in the layers area.  The video card shows as being OK and compatible.  My Lightroom Classic still works fine.
