Preview the stroke tool affect

When I want to add a stroke to something I have to open the stroke tool, adjust the settings, hit ok. The affect takes place and the settings were slightly wrong. Right now I undo, open the stroke tool again, adjust settings...repeat. 

Is there a way to just preview or have the settings take effect without having to open and close the tool?

Hi in blending options you can use stroke there you see the preview option also which shows you what is going on...regards
