Prints come out too large or too small

I am printing from Photoshop 2025(26.0) on an iMac (OS Sonoma V14.6.1, Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2019) to an Epson SC-P700 printer.  I am printing an 8x12" image (both image and canvas size), centered on 13x19" paper, so there is plenty of room.  The image shows correct size in the Photoshop window, using the ruler.

  • If I specify SuperB/A3 Borderless paper, the print comes out oversized in both dimensions, approximately 1/4" over on the long edge.
  • If I specify SuperB/A3 without the Borderless option, the print comes out undersized, again by approximaetely 1/4".

I do not have the "scale to fit media" option checked.

Thoughts: I did previously have the "scale to fit media" option checked when printing test prints on letter sized paper but I can't see why this should have bearing now.  I have saved as a TIFF rather than Photoshop and run into the same problem.  I have open and closed and re-opened both Photoshop and the printer to no effect.  (I can't recreate the file from scratch since there was considerable editing.)

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  (This is driving me nuts since I have been using Photoshop and this printer for years without  issues.).

Have you tried exporting as a PDF?
I have found Preview is often better at printing than direct from application or even Acrobat.

@Branch_Images "If I specify SuperB/A3 Borderless paper, the print comes out oversized in both dimensions, approximately 1/4" over on the long edge."

I have seen that when you set an Epson print driver to "borderless" or "edge to edge" it appears to slightly increase the image size, so as to "bleed" the image off the edge of the paper.

Personally, I'd like to turn this expansion off and have my image at the exact size I made it but it doesn't seem possible to do that.

It seems the only way to get exact size and borderless/edge to edge/bleed is to print on oversize media and trik after printing

If I specify SuperB/A3 without the Borderless option, the print comes out undersized, again by approximaetely 1/4"

do you mean it doesn't fill the media or that it is actually scaled? If borderless is NIOT selected then the printer will impose borders. If an image is sent too large it is generally cropped not automatically scaled.

I hope this helps
