Please tell us which version of your OS you're using. Also, there have been HUGE changes to video from these older versions. Adobe no longer supports some technologies, and therefore the underlying apps can no longer process some of the requests they receive for video functionality. This change happened around 2015. Adobe stopped allowing the downloads of older versions, and also stopped supporting functions within apps, that required those codecs. Please see:

"Unfortunately, Premiere Pro CC 2014, 2015 and 2017 versions up to 11.1.2 are no longer available from Adobe in any form due to the inclusion of the AC3 decoder and encoder, whose intellectual property was licensed by Dolby from some unnamed third-party company who is in litigation with all parties that were involved."
