Problems creating and saving text layers

Hi! My photoshop won't create text layers. It also won't allow me to set my text using the checkmark or the escape key. Error says no pixels have been selected. I have never encountered this problems before. I have updated Photoshop to the most current version, rebooted my MacBook, reset my text tool, set auto spacing to a fixed number, made sure that my text is not too big and many other things that I've seen as suggestions while doing some research on this problem. I am not a beginner, but I don't have a ton of experience with PS. Any ideas for what could be wrong? I am running Photoshop 26.7.0, MacBook Pro M4, Sequoia 15.5.  I would appreciate hearing from those who know. better than I. Thank you!

Please post a screenshot showing your document and settings. Is this in RGB, CMYK, or greyscale mode? Does the problem happen with a new document? What if you change fonts? Are there any error messages?

Hi @PhotoGal5050, Welcome to the Photoshop forums! Since you've already tried many of the common fixes (excellent job troubleshooting!), here are a few additional steps that might help:

1. Deselect Any Active Selections: Press Cmd+D to make sure nothing is selected. Even an invisible selection can cause this error.

2. Zoom Out and Check Canvas: Sometimes, the text is placed off-canvas or too small to see. Press Cmd+0 to fit the canvas to your screen and try again.

3. Reset Photoshop Preferences: If resetting the text tool didn't help, try manually resetting all of your Photoshop preferences:

If that doesn't help, can you post your Photoshop system info, in Photoshop go to Help > System Info, hit the copy button and paste the entire thing into this thread? As mentioned above, screenshots and/or screen recordings are also very useful in diagnosing the problem. Thanks! ^CH
