PSD file wont open with the error message saying "not the right kind of document"

Hey,
Ive recently been working on a skin for a game for the past week ,today i save my work and turn off my pc like normal but around 4 hours later when i come back and turn on my pc the file wont open anymore and keeps coming up with "could not complete request because its not the right kind of document" my computer is saying its a PSD and i dont know whats happening and i would really like to not have to start over again is there any way i can fix it?
