in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/
p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

@Asheim 3D features are being discontinued in Photoshop and this includes Lighting Effects

You can install version 22.2 from the Creative Cloud app alongside the current version, which will have the Lighting Effects filter

@Asheim you can try installing one of the 24.xx versions, not sure exactly when Adobe removed the Lighting Effects filter
There's also this tutorial for creating Lighting Effects without the filter in the current version

This doesn't make sense. The Render -> Lighting Effects filter has been there since Photoshop 3 or 4, LONG before the 3D stuff that nobody I know ever used was added. It's been there since the 1990s.

TheeDodger,
Yes , but Adobe changed Lighting Effects to use the 3D engine in Photoshop CS6.
In fact, Photoshop CS6 on the Windows side was the only version that a user could use both the new Lighting Effects using the 3D engine or download the "old" Lighting Effects Classic filter.
The Lighting Effects Classic filter was provided for Windows XP users since XP didn't support Photoshop's 3D stuff.

If you install version 24.7.5, you will also be able to use "3D" and "Lighting Effects."
24.7.5
25.1.2
In addition, the use of Rosetta is recommended for using the 3D features.
3D features are not optimized for native performance | Adobe recommends opening Photoshop using Rosetta for 3D workflows |

I thought it was V22.2 to use the 3D options.
There is a nice workaround using the new Gradient tool to simulate Lighting Effects

JoAS_69,
What version of macOS do you have?
When you try to install Photoshop 22.2, what happens?
