If you try to open a document that is 800" by 800"  that may  not be sufficient. What did you try to do when you got that message? My Photoshop does not have a "x" tool. X is a shortcut to switch between background and background color.

Hi @changgo

If Photoshop says your scratch disk is full, then you need to free up more space because what you have for the the files you are working on is not enough until Photoshop agrees.

@JJMack : "x" is an algebraic expression. "x" tool most likely means any one of several tools.

I do not have problems on windows 10 with Photoshop 22.1 tools with scratch disk space unlees I go overboard.  I  have little over 100GB of free space for Photoshop scratch space. Please solve your algebraic expression for X for me and provide the details use in expression X.

In this case there is clearly enough space.

Check the image size units again. If it's set to, say, 7000 inches instead of pixels, that will blow up any scratch disk.

If it still comes up, reset preferences.
