Reviving this thread. I work in prepress and have always converted psd files to PDFs with transparent backgrounds to use in InDesign or Acrobat. This has stopped working in the latest versions of Photoshop. The reason I never used native psd files was that, despite retaining transparency, any vector or text layers were flattened. Why doesn't this work anymore,  what anm I missing?

Hey, @ClaireTur. I've moved your comment to a separate post. I'll need more specific info about this. Please share more details about your workflow & the system info from Photoshop Help > System info > Copy & paste into a text document > upload & attach here.

Does the PDF not appear as expected in the result or file browser preview?

Try changing the Compatibility in the Compression tab to save it as a PDF dialog.

Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks!
