Recoloring a busy image

Engaged ,
Sep 27, 2023 Sep 27, 2023

I am placing a 'petit train' from this image against an urban background to this image against a tropical beach background.  I'm using Photoshop 2024.  This first effort is only very rough as you can see.

I need to change the white color on the train to a green that merges better with the new background.  I'm having difficulties getting the selection and recolor working.

Any suggestions please?

Do you have white train isolated then placed in new image? If yes then use Hue/Saturation, for example, clipped to layer with train to change color or recolor train. Use mask to limit color change to white parts that you want. There are many selectiontechniques, brushing with black on mask will work 100% or invert mask then brush white where you want recoloring.
