Rectangle selection tool does not work in Photoshop 26.4.1 for Intel Mac

Since updating to Adobe Photoshop 26.4.1 for Intel Mac, I am unable to use the "style" menu of the rectangle selection tool.  When clicking on it, instead of letting me choose a proportion or no set proportion, a greyed-out menu appears saying: "Generate an image" and "Import an image".  I don't understand.

I use Mac OS Sequoia 15.3.2.

Restarting Photoshop appears to have solved the problem.  I also reset the tool as you suggested.  Thank you.

Hey @Jflemay

Can you try doing a tool rest and see if that helps.

  • Right-click on the Rectangular Marquee Tool in the toolbar.
  • Choose Reset Tool to restore the default settings.
