Reference Image in Generative Fill

New Here ,
May 25, 2025 May 25, 2025

I will generate an image using generative fill and then go in for image modifications using generative fill and the reference photo and style icons are gone. This was literally working for me yesterday, but I saw there was an update and updated PS overnight and this morning this option is completely gone. After reading around for the past few hours, I am finding that it was completely removed in the update and a reference object is available in the beta version. This doesn't help when I have generated an image that is done as an animated drawing and all I want to do is change the image of a plant (for example), and it replaces it with a realizstic plant image instead of an animated drawing. The reference image helped ensure that the modifications would be in the similar style as the original image.

I am praying I am missing something because this is extremely important in my job and I honestly don't know what I will do if I cannot get this to work. Generative Image never gets it completely right and being able to modify specific areas to an image that came close to what I was envisioning is extremely important to me.

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
