Rendering shadow dilemma

I am new to working with 3D objects in Photoshop CC.

So I have an object which I am lighting with 2 infinite lights. I don't want any shadows so I turned shadows off for both of them. The trouble is there are shadows created on the object itself from the lights. The objects look fine until I render the them and then the shadows on the objects develop a hard edge. I can't soften the shadows because I have turned the shadows off. I have included a screen capture before I render and after. My drawing mode is Basic. Very puzzling!
