Why do you change highly approved procedures like
Save as... JPG ???
Save copy... JPG copy
No one needs changes like this 😞
That's not what we are paying for
To be honest, I don't think the problem is how it now works. I think the problem is why was it changed.
And the answer to that is very simple. One word: Apple.
Apple removed the API that allowed Photoshop to strip "-copy" from the filename. With the new API, Photoshop is forced to finalize the filename before entering the Save dialog. That filename has to contain "-copy", because it is a copy. If it wasn't a copy, your original file would have to be overwritten as a flat 8 bit file to satisf

This has been extensively discussed in this forum recently.
In short, the change has been introduced by Adobe because Apple changed the operating system and how the Save As dialog box works. Adobe changed the Windows version to maintain consistency with the Mac version.

This is not a bug or mistake, but a deliberate security policy from Apple. Adobe didn't change this because they wanted to, they did it because they had to. The old way wouldn't work anymore.

I agree. Why did this change? It's an annoyance. Save as worked fine. When they updated Photoshop in the past with a "save for web" option that at least made sense. Now I have to get used to "save a copy". Save as wasn't broke. It didn't need to be fixed.
