Save Photoshop state with multiple open images?

Engaged ,

I have a bunch of files open in separate windows in Photoshop 2023.  I'm moving them around the screen, resizing their windows and zooming them, looking for a pleasing arrangement.   When I get something I think will do for our project I want to share it with colleagues and get feedback before continuing on.   That could take hours or days.

Is there any way to save such a layout in Photoshop so I can close Photoshop and re-open it the way I had it, including which images were open with what size windows, zoomed how much, etc so I can pick up where I left off?   Remember, I'm not trying to save the files; I'm trying to save the state of Photoshop regarding what windows were open with what files, what zoom factor, etc, so I can resume work where I left off.

Thanks in advance.

Hi

Short answer - no.

However, you could create a new document with those image files placed within it as linked smart objects so that you can open it and view them in that layout whenever you want

Yes, exactly what I was going to say. This is what smart objects were born to do.

In addition to Smart Objects, you might also consider using Layer Comps.

  • Create an arrangement; save it as a Layer Comp for Position
  • Repeat
  • Select each Layer Comp to view the various arrangements

I'm seeing the SOs are now a fourth choice for Layer Comps, but I haven't worked with that (yet).
