Saving a gif

I am not being able to save a gif that I created using Photoshop. I tried all the methods like "Save for Web (Legacy)" (doesn't even allow me to select that option), "File -> Save As" and then trying to change file type to "CompuServeGIF" (which again it doesn't give me an option for). So in such a case what should I do?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

You didn't mention if your document is 8-bit and RGB, so can you check those before you go to File > Export > Save for Web (legacy).
