Saving files

Earlier i opened a NEF file with Bridge, edited it in PS and pressed Ctrl-S and it saved it as a JPEG.

But now it suggest to save it as a PSD file.?
How do I make it work as it used to?

Use File > Save a Copy (Alt + Ctrl + S) to save as JPEG.

ACR now by default opens in 16 bit depth. Previously it opened in 8 bit depth.

Jpeg does not support 16 bit depth, layers, transparency or alpha channels. To save as jpeg, the document needs to be flattened and converted to 8 bit.

Or Save A Copy.
