My working canvas will have a layer of text. Is there a script/way to place an image from a source folder and place it behind the text, then save it, then do it again for the next picture in the folder?

This could be performed via a Batch Action or Script.

A lot depends on the text layer file and the various images and what you require.

It's a bit hard to comment without looking at copies of the text layer file, the separate backgrounds and the some combined examples.
