slow down and disappearing dialogue boxes

In the latest version of PS 2022 (23.5.2) on Mac OS Monterray (12.5.1) I'm experiencing the following problems: (ote this is not a memory or storage issue, I have 32 GB memory and 400 GB free storage)

Disappearing dialogue boxes: after using the program for a bit, when dialogue boxes pop up, they are invisible and then after I enter a response via the keyboard will appear for half a second. The program needs to be restarted to get them to come up prperly again.  This issue has occured on all PS 2022 versions, but not on PS 2021 or earlier.

Slowdown when opening files and when using magic wand selection: Files take a long time to open when very large. I usually don't mind but some just won't open and i needed to open them on PS Beta instead.  Also, making selections with the magic wand has about doubled in processing time. These issues didn't occur in the 23.0.2 edition of PS 2022.

Which dialog boxes are you referring to here?

You wrote about large files, "some just won't open and i needed to open them on PS Beta instead"

What happens when they won't open?

How is the Ps beta performance when opening the large files? Do they open quicker there?

new problem to report. color libraries are glitching and not selecting the color you hit. must restart program to get working again.

I'm referring to all dialogue boxes, such as when you close a file and it asks you if you want to save, when you merge layers with a mask and it asks you if you want to preserve, when you select an empty layer and it tells you there's nothing on it, really any dialogue box.

When I tried to open that particular file, I waited a half hour and it just never finished opening, the progress bar went about 3/4.  I tried multiple times and it never moved beyond this point.  It open in about a minute in PS Beta.

For the dialog issue: I think the team is aware of some of this, but would be curious if a preference reset helps with this one.

If that doesn't solve it, you can quit Photoshop and put the Settings folder back.

For file opening performance: Does it help to Save this as a new/fresh PSD from the Ps beta, and then open that new file from the release Photoshop I wonder?

the update did not seem to fix ay of the problems I can safely say after using it for about a month

The preference resetting doesn't affect it, but perhaps I should add that I have Indesign open as well, though obviously this shouldn't be happening either way.

Resaving in Ps Beta doesn't change anything about the loading issue. Also, regarding loading, I've had this version of Ps crash on me when attempting a large transformation, which never happened in the earlier make I was using.

The latest Ps release, 23.5.1, should have a fix for some of the dialogs not showing. Would you try installing that and let us know if it resolves the issue for you?

Missing dialogs:

Some (not all) customers reported, that setting Preferences > General > check: Use legacy "new document" interface has resolved some of their trouble with missing dialogs. Curious if this helps for you?

My next suggestion there would be around creating a new Admin user on that system to see if dialogs start to show up in this new user: https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/set-up-other-users-on-your-mac-mtusr001/mac

For selections:
Does this help to speed up selections?

Go to Preferences > Technology Previews and enable Deactivate Native Canvas. Restart Photoshop.

The beta opening your files quicker might be due to GPU compositing being turned on (in preferences > performance > advanced settings), and this option is not enabled in the 23.5.1 current general release.

Could either or both of you record a video of the dialogs not popping up?

I can try, but there's literally nothing visible to record. For example, if I go to close a document and have not saved, the dialog that normally prompts you to save is just not visible. The only way to clear it is to hit escape, upon which the dialog window will spear for a split second before it disappears. I'll record it the next time it happens, but doubt it will help much.

Also, my preferences are already set to Legacy new Doc so that is not the issue for me

Does the new admin user help or make a difference?

Recording a video of "something not happening" is just as useful. It's helpful for us to see your system and what might be on it through the recording and trying to reproduce. 

When a dialog is invisible, Does CMD+Tabbing to another app, and back to Photoshop help at all?
Does Expose show the dialog in it? See more about Expose here

No, none of those things has helped. I don't know how to record a video, and if i did, since you can't see what my fingers are doing on the keyboard it wouldn't illustrate the issue. howeve, if you ever wna tto do a screen share on zoom, i'd be up for it.
