Smart object liquify does not respect crop changes

  1. All versions with smart object liquify
  2. macOS
  3. -Create a smart object and liquify using liquify smart filter

-Change the crop of the image

  1. I would expect the liquified area to remain aligned with the smart object as before re-cropping. It does not and the position of the liquify filter changes.

e.g. - Adding logo/text to a flag.

First layer, image of flag, second layer smart object of logo / text.

-Liquify smart object logo to follow the folds and contours of the flag

- Change the crop of the image, such as adding 25% to the width.

- The liquified area no longer aligns with the logo/ flag as before the crop.

You're putting the cart before the horse.

Crop & fully edit your image first.  Then apply filters. Not the other way around.

Unfortunately that's not always possible, in fact rarely possible, in a real world production environment.

Various image formats are required, and often change throughout a project.

In that case, Merge or Flatten layers before you crop or re-size.  SaveAs new file name.

I usually make several copies of images just for that purpose.

Thanks but that doesn't reallly solve the problem, since the ideal situation is to keep the liquified smart object editable after cropping, such as changing the text on the flag in my example above.
