smooth a rocky surface

does anyone know the best way to remove the linear cracks from this sandstone surface? I've tried selecting with magic wand and content aware fill but you can still clearly see the outlines, any help much appreciated

Use the Remove tool. Uncheck "remove after each stroke" and paint over the areas. Hit return or enter to repair.

Hi, thanks for your reply, i tried it and it works somewhat, but i actually mean the cuts in the rocks (the deep vertical and horizontal lines cut into the rock) , not the cracks, my bad, the result is on the way there but you can still clearly see the outline, see my screenshot

In that case you definitely want to use the Remove tool and turn off "apply after each stroke" or it will try to replace with what it thinks is the pattern. Also incease the size of the Remove tool brush to enclose the area on both sides:

I would add a color fill layer with BlendIf so it only affected the dark lines. That would get you much closer and make removal a lot easier.
