Community Expert ,

Hi

This weekend's starter image is brought to you not by me, but by @jane-e  (ACP on this community). It is a sculpture called "Stacked Stone Sphere by Devin Devine, taken in Brookside Gardens, Wheaton, Maryland.

So now Jane has given us our object and scene, what can we do with it?

The “rules”:

* Anything goes, as long as it meets the forum rules on decency, copyright etc

* Anyone, and everyone, is welcome to have a go, whether you are a complete beginner or a Photoshop expert.

* There are no prizes apart from the chance to practice, show off, or bring a bit of humour and fun. Don't be shy, join in and have a go!

To download the image below at 2049 x 1536 pixels, with an embedded ICC colour profile (sRGB), hover over the image and click on the circle with the arrows at the top right. Then, when the image opens in its own window, right click and choose “Save Image As/Save Target As” (or similar depending on your browser).

International Star Wars Day!  There should be a public holiday day in all self respecting nations around the world.  Unfortunately for people like myself, we are routinely cheated out of public holiday days, along with weekends and premium rates for working additional hours.  We'll maybe not for the last bit, because time and a half when you get zero dollars, is still zero dollars.  You can see how badly the world treats us retired folk.  😉

Trevor, today’s WaPo reports that an X-wing Starfighter from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is on display while undergoing conservation in the Restoration Hangar at The Air and Space Museum’s Udvar-Hazy Center in Virginia. The Center reopened just a couple of days ago.

Next year when the restoration is complete, it will move to the museum on the National Mall in D.C. It has a wingspan of 37 feet and it will be traveling 30 miles. You can bet I'll be watching!

This is a bit off topic, but it feels like a good place to put it.  I saw this artwork on a wall in Dunedin a few days ago, and was so impressed with how the artist illustrated the chrome effect.  He has made judicious use of white for the highlights, and very little full black, and then lots of blue to show the reflected sky, and beige to show what look like reflected buildings.  It's pure genius IMO, and painted by someone called Bik Ismo.  I shall be keeping this ready for the next time someone asks how to do chrome in the forum.

It's very good Trevor and proves exactly what we have always said - that painting shiny metal, such as gold, silver or chrome, is all about painting the reflections.

This is very good, Trevor. I looked him up and also found this 45 second video of him painting a chrome dog on a wall:
