Thank you to all who took part in our previous locomotive challenge. There were some great ideas and images.
This weekend we have a miner's safety lamp. There have been many variations since its invention by Humphrey Davy in 1815, but all work on the same principle and it has saved many lives.
What can you do with it?
The “rules”:
To download the starter image, hover over the image and click on the circle with the arrows at the top right. Then, when the image opens in its own window, right click and choose “Save Image As/Save Target As” (or similar depending on your browser). It is a png with transparency so you should not need to spend time creating a mask for it.
When posting back your image — please use the blue reply button in this first post and use the 'Insert Photos' icon at the top of the reply box. If posting a comment on someone else’s entry, then please use the grey reply button next to their image post.
Have fun!
Dave

I like it - be careful that he doesn't burn his beard in there 🙂

Immediately had to think about a lava lamp I once owned …

Nice idea and a great job extending the lamp tube to do it.

Apologies in advance. I got a bit carried away with all the local free time, and the Norwegian Blue is my favorite fictional parrot.
Take 1. But wait, there's more! I had a leftover Firefly challenge, so...
In decades to come, art historians will cite these as typical of my Blue Parrot period.

I love them both Alan. They have a grand and epic quality, and would make a sort of 'alternative' Christmas card. Just one thing though... I honestly thought that the Norwegian Blue was invented my Monty Python for their dead parot sketch

As I said, it's my favorite fictional parrot. I was careful to insert the word "fictional" because when I wrote something tongue-in-cheek about it in another forum there were a couple of folks who took me seriously. I was too embarrassed to correct them. I have some fantastic Arctic flamingo images, if you're interested. None of them were useful for this challenge, though.

If you want to know the way ask a policeman parrot. 🙂

But I had these other ideas that would not be denied!

Keep Firefly away from hands and it does a fair job. 🙂 I like the illustration style in the first one.

Curiously enough, neither of these started life in Firefly. The female and the creature came from another service I was trying out, but most of what you see in the final images is GenFill or GenExpand in Photoshop.

Love the fairy tales feeling on these ones!
