I opened a CR2 in Photoshop and removed someone from a picture also some other edits. Still keeping that photo open I then I went to file open as Smart Object and I navigated back to the same CR2 and when I opened it all the edits had been applied to the CR2 so I saved it as a DNG with the edits. Is this known or something new/qlitch?? Maybe Im a newbie 🤪

Hi, are the edits done in photoshop or camera raw?
see the first screenshot in this page if you are not sure of what camera raw looks like

The Generative Remove Feature was introduced in Camera Raw last year (if I understand correctly), so the ability of saving the removal in a Raw File/DNG does not seem unexpected.

Yes some edits were done in Camera Raw but also in photoshop. I left the image open in PS and then proceeded to open the same image again in Camera Raw. When it opened my corrections were there (ie person removal) so I then saved it as a DNG. It was a good surprise didnt think it was possible. Another member said it does not seem unexpected due to the removal tool was added to Camera Raw. I get that but camera raw was closed and the file was open in PS when I reopened it in Camera Raw.

I guess that the DNG was needed to bake in the changes and transfer to Ps. Was the DNG saved to the original folder?

Yes but with a different name instead of numbers.
