Stuck on "green" for color mode - fill tool is only making grey, black, and white now [2019]

Idk what I did but now the image displays the word "green" at the top and now the paint bucket and any form of drawing just comes out grey white or black. Could anyone tell me what I did and how to fix it?

On Mac, latest version of PS.

Check Color Mode from Image > Mode > if you are in Grayscale mode click on RGB Color.

It is on RGB color but still has the same issue, just says green at the top like in related image.

Look at the Channels palette and you'll see the problem.

@LoicZen13  That sounds like an entirely different issue. Start a new thread, and include screenshots and more detailed information.

Hi @LoicZen13, Thank you for reaching out, and welcome to the community! Since this thread is a bit old, starting a new one with all the details of your issue might be best. That way, your comments won't get lost and you'll get the help you need more quickly.

Please share more details, such as your system configuration, from Help> System Info> Copy and paste it into a text file and attach it to your response. When did you start noticing this issue? Was it after a major software or hardware change in the setup? Does this happen with specific image file formats or all of them? Additionally, a screen recording or relevant screenshots of the issue would be beneficial. You can share via Google Drive, WeTransfer, or another public file-sharing platform with your response.

As Bojan Živković suggested, you can check if the color mode is set to RGB.

You can also try turning off the GPU and checking if it is causing the issues. Please take a look at this article for steps and further information: Troubleshoot Photoshop graphics processor (GPU) and graphics driver issues.

Let us know how it goes!

Please use @ before mentioning my username so that I can be notified as soon as possible, and you can get the Help you deserve.

Below is an explanation of how you likely obtained the word "green" on the tab, as shown in your screenshot. Click on RGB in the Channels panel to resolve the issue.
