The Remove Tool Works Poorly in continuous tone areas such as clear blue sky

The remove tool does not perform well in continuous tone areas such as a clear blue sky.  It invariably leaves a faint trail that does not blend with the surround area.

The saqme has been happening for me. Or at least I've noticed it more over the last several months. I work with seamless a lot and I'll often need to go back and clone out the portion that doesn't match. Super frustrating.
